  • @Johan Pauly March 2020, a free 6-month Office 365 E1 Trial, including Microsoft Teams. I have difficulties to find any info about licensing limitations for Teams. In web or desktop app i don't have option - to give or request control. Like not dimmed just no option at all.
  • The Secure Desktop can not be handled by the collaboration tool Microsoft Teams. As soon as the Secure Desktop appears the shared screen looses track of the session and the remote supporter can’t control any UAC dialog.
  • In this season finale of Teams On Air host, Delanda Coleman, and Principal Product Manager, Sandhya Rao, demo mixed reality for Microsoft Teams to help first.

Microsoft teams is used for conducting online meetings and not for controlling computers remotely. For remotely accessing computers, you need to use tools like logmein, R-HUB remote support servers, Teamviewer etc. They are easy to use and work well.

Symptoms

You share a screen with another user on the Microsoft Teams desktop client, and the other user requests control of your screen. In this situation, you see the user's request on the Sharing toolbar. However, you do not see an option to approve or deny the request. Even the Give Control drop-down menu doesn't react when you try to open it.

Cause

This issue occurs because the device that you are using doesn't have a graphics processing unit (GPU) installed, or GPU hardware acceleration is disabled. The Give Control drop-down menu doesn't work unless hardware acceleration is supported on the system. This behavior is by design.

Resolution

Control

To prevent this behavior, make sure that your system supports hardware acceleration. To verify the same, you can browse chrome://gpu/ in Google Chrome. If you can see any value in it stating 'Software only' or 'hardware acceleration unavailable', that means the system does not support it. For more help, we recommend that you contact your hardware provider.

More information

When this issue occurs, you can see the following information in Teams client logs:

Note

Ahnlab stock. To collect the logs on a Windows machine, go to %appdata%MicrosoftTeamsmedia-stack*.*. On a Mac machine, go to ~Library/Application Support/Microsoft/Teams/media-stack/*.*.
